The story appears simple on the surface, but is revealed, especially after multiple viewings, as more multi-layered and textured than Cassavetes at his best. Ostensibly it concerns a 14-year old Catholic girl, Wynne (Agutter) growing up in this post-modern wasteland, who develops a crush on her much older adoptive brother (Marshall)- a crush which perversely deepens and grows into infatuation once she starts to believe he is the local sex killer. This is in itself an idea that makes you sit up and jolt, but as the narrative develops, it continues not necessarily along a linear path but in several confusing and fascinating directions: the family's history, (detailed effectively in chilling flashback during an improvised seance) is a chequered one, and has suffered at least one major relocation and upheaval in the last ten years. At the crux, however, it's the depiction of socialal changes that make I Start Counting so fascinating and elevate its language far beyond the confines of the standard horror film. The major subtext- that teenage girls were maturing more quickly than before, and developing full sexual and romantic appetites (even if in thought rather than deed) but were not possessed of enough discretion to make the right choices- was a step forward for a genre in which its young females had previously been portrayed as bimbo victims (Cover Girl Killer and The Night Caller spring to mind), but not one that all viewers would necessarily agree with. But most striking of all, and possibly the most enduring image which the viewer will take away with them, is of the masterful symbolism with which director Greene invests every shot. Every inch of the Kinch family's world- their house, their walls, their TV, Agutters underwear, bedroom furniture and toys, Sutcliffe's clothes, Marshalls van, the local Catholic church, their town centre, their record shop) - is painted a bright, scintillating white- a white which, by inference, is slowly becoming smudged and corrupted with the dirt of the outside world. White also symbolises, of course, purity and innocence (two qualities Catholic schoolgirls are supposed to hold dear), and it is into this world of innocence that the ever-present red bus (a symbol of violation and penetration), conducted by the lecherous yet similarly juvenile Simon Ward, makes regular journeys. The allegory is further expanded in one scene where Agutter believes she sees the Christ figure in church weeping blood: by the time we acknowledge it, its gone, but the seed has already been planted. Rarely in a genre production has the use of colour and background been so important or effective in creating a uniformity of mood. I Start Counting is as near-perfect an end to a decade as one could hope for, and exactly the kind of film people should be making now- which is, of course, exactly why they never will. 将大众熟知的故事不断地做减法最后以小见大拍摄出了这样一部极具“反思”的影片。无论是对戴安娜王妃的境遇、反抗抑或是对王室的传统、压抑都极其符合了观众所熟知的被传媒所展示和塑造的“幸福的”和“痛苦的”戴安娜以及其所代表的符号，可戴安娜终究不是也不可能是所谓的媒体形象。这样一部以戴安娜为主角的故事所描述的不是戴安娜而是其作为符号化的媒体形象，这种再现的方式不但不是对戴安娜悲剧的反思反倒是对戴安娜悲剧的续写。的确如此，你我都已经深深嵌再这个使戴安娜不幸的现代世界之中了，也尽管我们似乎是在“反思”。但我们真的不需要，也不希望以影片这种对悲剧进行续写的方式来进行所谓的反思了......
#LFF 小K实在太美太美了，这个美已经盖过她的演技和电影本身，让人什么都看不到。电影基本是她的独角戏，真的很考验演技。
越努力模仿越偏离，努力不代表成功，《王冠》近年网飞出的质量最强剧集之一，可以说任何电影想拍出及格的王室剧情，先超过《王冠》为目标吧。两个小时的观影无非是吐槽某一事件，不可否认对戴安娜的心理塑造，道具符号等细节对心理的暗示都是优点，这剧情是外包给外行三流编剧写的吗？
送龙虾圣诞礼物的时候我哭得好难过。
小K的颜值、身材在线，但是她演的戴妃再不疯掉，观众要跟着疯掉了。记得无论有多少香奈儿的衣服和包，最向往的生活还是在泰晤士河边吃炸鸡。
看不下去！情节拖沓，小题大做，表演夸张，音乐刺耳。看到一半就关了。
好好一个英国女王，选角跟个暴发户+小人得志一样。
我说这个风格这么Jackie的。。。原来是同一个导演，然而时过境迁，丫哈退步了，意识流到了极致就是发神经，健康的我不太能共鸣了，主要原因除了剧本垃圾还在于小K不及波曼，且丫的英式口音太硬了，还有哪个歇斯底里的劲儿，我是真的听不清她说的啥，当然也是我回国两个月英语变差了 - -！
非常典型的七分电影。这片于我而言最大的看点是《烧女图》的摄影，几处对称构图和小空间的调度都非常漂亮。圣诞夜出逃的爵士乐也是一绝。至于小K，可能大家对于美女比较宽容，个人觉得这个角色并不完全适合她，演得也缺乏层次，但导演非常准确地抓住了她的脆弱感，这是年轻一代的好莱坞女星非常罕见的特质。如果她未来能多在欧三大的体系里面打磨，拿奖也只是时间问题。

@STHLM电影节 本片又名闪灵皇家圣诞节。可能因为对戴妃没有太多先入为主的印象吧，个人觉得K演得还不错啊。音乐好优秀
看了40分钟，这演技太拙劣，每一秒都在呈现各种不适
聚光灯都打在她的身上，压得喘不过气。当戴安娜王妃迷路时，所有人都只是看着，没有一只手指向她需要前往的地方。不过至少最后，她和那群雉鸟都逃出了这高高的，隐形的宫墙。小K演得像不像我不敢妄下定论，但我至少知道，她的一颦一笑，都有足够的感染力与说服力。
可是就是略略无病呻吟+矫揉造作+神经质+莫名其妙，有点过了。
并不反感它的尝试，这不是传统传记片的拍法（传统拍法比如《至暗时刻》或《朱迪》，拿了前几年的奥斯卡影帝影后），更像一个寓言（比如莎士比亚的麦克白），一部心理惊悚片，镜头对准情绪而非故事，斯图尔特的演出很矛盾，至少在这片子里是这样，一面选择她无疑已经体现出导演对于形似上的不追求，毕竟斯图尔特的阴霾和戴安娜的明媚风情几乎不搭调，但又在片子里令她肢体语言想要贴近戴安娜，这是非常失败的，想要冲奖还是不行。
电影旨在表现王妃痛苦压抑的心理境况，这给演员提供了非常大的表演空间，也非常考验演员演技，但小K的表演给我的感觉是她在非常努力地演却始终难以让我共情，不过这份努力还是值得鼓励的
看完觉得别人都挺好，戴安娜病得真不轻。
